Hi Tim,

If I may say, there is no matter here for “lauding or attacking” me or anyone else. Over centuries, thousands of people have contributed to provide the grounds that enabled me, in turn, to provide the series of pointers in Value of the edge of a cliff. My post encapsulates a huge body of knowledge that is just there, to be engaged with, refined, corrected, progressed, etc.

Why no comments to date? In my experience, it takes time for people to put their heads around those pointers. The whole of economics is a self-referencing, fantasy thought space closed over itself. Only a few exceptional economists have ever managed to “worm” their way out of it. A notable exception is my friend, emeritus prof. of economics, Serge Latouche, who has spent the best part of his career demonstrating how and why economics is a fantasy self-referencing closed space. I am much indebted to him. In the main, neither specialists nor non-economists are equipped to readily handle those pointers. Most people are not aware that this body of knowledge is there. One aim of that post is to attract attention to it and entice people to find out more. Given what’s happening globally, on a catastrophe mode, now would be a good time for everyone to do so, for their own sake and for everybody’s sake ;-))

All the best,

Louis
